The Domestic Group Liaison Meeting was held on May 25 in Chengdu for the

12th Western China International Fair (WCIF) scheduled from October 18 to 22

this year.

    According to the secretariat of the organizing committee, as one of the

major events in 2011 WCIF, the fourth Western China International Sourcing

Fair has successfully invited six United Nations procurement agencies.

Besides them, it will emphasize on inviting nearly 12,000 international

visitors from five Central Asia countries, West Asia, South Asia, Europe and

America to procure all kinds of goods here on large scale including

"Sichuan-made" products.

    Eight Important Activities

    "In the first year of implementing 12th Five Plan and a new round of

western development, WCIF, as the largest window and the most important

platform for the development of western China, will further highlight its

international, professional, market characteristics.” Wu Xiankui, Deputy

Secretary General of the WCIF and Deputy Secretary of Sichuan Expo Affairs

Bureau, said that this WCIF with the theme of leading the international

cooperation and expanding market space had basically decided eight major

events, namely the Opening Ceremony for the 12th Western China International

Fair, the 4th Western China International Cooperation Forum, Western China

Investment Introduction & the Signing Ceremony for Economic Cooperation

Project, the 6th Sino-Russia Business Forum, 2011 Western China International

Sourcing Fair, the 6th EU-China Investment & Trade Cooperation Fair, the 2nd

West China Financial Forum and the 2nd Emerging Industry Conference.

    In addition, there are a number of themed events cooperated with national

ministries during this WCIF.

    Cooperate with International Organizations

    2011 Western China International Sourcing Fair is one of major events

during WCIF. "This year, the invitation of purchasers focuses on B2B and we

have begun cooperation with well-known domestic network-enterprise, requiring

each participating company to ensure Internet available at time." Wuxian Kui

said that the WCIF emphasizes on the invitation of professional guests,

strengthening trade negotiations & match-making so as to maximize trade

achievements; as an important channel for a platform for the trade

cooperation of WCIF, Sourcing Fair will be focused on its international,

professional and effective nature.

    "In addition to six United Nations procurement agencies, we will focus on

inviting 12,000 professional visitors from the five Central Asian countries,

West Asia, South Asia, Europe and America with 1000 purchasers who have large

procurement plan.” Wuxian Kui said that in order to enhance match-making

between suppliers and buyers and promote the effectiveness of trade, the WCIF

will hold United Nations Procurement Seminar & Sourcing Fair and organize

match-making fairs for electronic information and high-tech, finding buyers

for goods of western China. All of this will be carried out according to the

professional setting for the first time.

    Leading the international cooperation

    The WCIF will be held in New International Convention and Exhibition

Centre in Chengdu, with the area of ??120,000 square meters. In the main

exhibition hall, six pavilions will be set, namely the West Cooperation

Pavilion, International Cooperation Pavilion, High-tech Pavilion, IT

Pavilion, Equipment Manufacturing Pavilion and Agriculture Pavilion.

    Among them, investment environment and characteristic industries of 12

western provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), Xinjiang

Production and Construction Corps, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and mid-eastern

provinces will be showed in the Western Cooperate Hall. In it, we will also

display the post-disaster reconstruction achievements aided by 18 provinces

(cities). In the International Cooperation Pavilion, industries and exhibits

of Denmark, Iceland, Japan, Korea, the United States and South Asian

countries will be displayed and we will set up European Union Exhibition Area

and International Pavilion of Chinese Entrepreneur. The High-tech Pavilion

will showcase latest technology products and technology of international new

energy technologies, bio-medicine and other high-tech industry. The IT

Pavilion will show latest technology products and technology from Intel,

Foxconn, Compal, Sharp and other international electronics companies. The

Equipment Manufacturing Indoor Pavilion will showcase latest technological

achievements and products of large equipment manufacturing, general aviation

and automobile manufacturing industries; the outdoor exhibition area

highlights new energy vehicles, business vehicles, heavy machinery and

integrated architecture. The Agriculture Pavilion will showcase agricultural

high-tech, energy-saving irrigation equipment, heavy machinery, integrated

 architecture and so on.
